This Consulate will accept applications from residents of Alaska, American Samoa, California, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Northern Marianas, Oregon, Utah, Washington State, and Wyoming.
For Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, and for Clark, Esmeralda, Lincoln, Mineral and Nye counties, please submit your application to the following Consulate :

Requirements for a student visa
You must obtain your visa while residing in the consular jurisdiction. The visa cannot be issued once the applicant is in Europe.
ALL INCOMPLETE FILES WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU AND PROCESSED ONLY WHEN ALL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED ARE PRESENTED.
YOU MUST SUBMIT THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS PLUS 3 COPIES OF EACH. ALL ORIGINALS WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU.
Please submit the following documents:
- Your valid passport which must be valid at least for three months starting from your last day of stay in France (make sure there are enough blank pages to affix the visa.)
- 2 recent passport size photographs
- 2 long/short stay application forms filled out completely and signed by the applicant
- The letter of admission or pre-inscription in a school or university in France which must be accredited by the Ministry of Education (you should be registered for at least 20 hours per week or scheduled to take a test)
- A proof of sufficient funds while residing in France. Please submit one of the following documents:
- A notarized letter from your parents stating that they will provide you with a minimum of $600.00 per month during your stay in France
- A letter from your bank stating that you have the necessary funds to withdraw at least $600.00 per month during your stay in France
- A letter from the institution granting you a fellowship or a student loan.
- A return envelope ESPRESS-MAIL or CERTIFIED MAIL (please note that sending your documents certified mail may take up to 10 days to get back to you)
- Visa fee ______________must be paid at the time we issue your visa. Our office does not accept personal checks. Please send us a money order made out to the French Consulate in the amount aforementioned. (NB: Visa fees vary according to the exchange rate).
- A proof of insurance coverage for France will be asked upon your arrival at the immigration service.
DELAY TO OBTAIN YOUR VISA : Same day for U.S. citizens.
